Your data. Our responsibility.
We don't build for data. We build for decisions. Here's exactly what we collect and how we treat it.
What we collect
- Your email address, when you create an account.
- Your reads: the product queries you run and the results we generate back to you, saved so you can access your history.
- Basic usage data: how many reads you've run and which plan you're on.
- Standard server logs: request timestamps and metadata, retained briefly, not used for profiling.
That's it for account and product data. No fingerprinting, no cross-site ad tracking. If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics to see site traffic. Full detail in our Privacy Policy.
What we never do
We never sell your data. We only share it with analytics or advertising partners when you've given consent, and even then, only what those tools need to work.
Your reads are stored so you can access your history, tied to your account and visible only to you. When we process a query through Anthropic's API, your product description is sent to the API to generate the read. No account information travels with it.
How it's stored
Your data lives on Supabase, a managed database platform built on PostgreSQL. Supabase encrypts data at rest and in transit. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth. We never store or handle passwords directly.
Your reads are secured to your account via row-level access controls. Only you can access them. The credentials our backend uses to operate the database are stored in secure environment variables, never in code.
Looking ahead: your business numbers
A future version of MarkLens will let you enter your own business numbers (revenue, CAC, margins) to personalise the verdict. Here are the terms, stated before the feature exists so you can decide with your eyes open.
- You keep ownership. They are your numbers. Entering them here does not make them ours.
- We never sell them, and we never share them in a form that identifies you or your business. That holds without exception.
- We do use them to make MarkLens better, including for other founders. Anonymised and pooled, your numbers become benchmarks: what a normal repeat rate looks like in your category, what a normal acquisition cost looks like at your price point. The product gets sharper for everyone, and it only works because real numbers went in.
We would rather say that plainly than bury it in a policy. A tool that reads your market honestly should not be coy about what it does with what you give it. If the third point is not a trade you want to make, do not enter your numbers, and the rest of MarkLens works exactly as it does today.
Who is responsible
